Last year our Impact Club hosted a big event called "Cantastic" to encourage middle schoolers to bring in canned foods for our annual drive. This year I was unable to commit to coordinating something that big, so I figured I just wouldn't do anything. But then I remembered the quotes, "You are not obligated to complete the task, but neither are you free to abandon it" and "We are the ones we have been waiting for."
Even though I can't do it all, I will host a mini-cantastic day with my team where they will have a canstruction contest (building structures with canned foods) and students will vote with additional cans (one vote per can) by placing it next to the structure they like best. We will also have a canned food relay where teams compete by bringing up "5 meats" or "a complete meal" and the first to bring up the appropriate cans wins. I hope the students have fun while contributing to a great cause.
