Eating fine with local foods

The best local lettuce depends on the season, but good buys for me are from the guys at the C&C People's Open Markets (POM) where I can get manoa lettuce or anuenue when they have it, for less than $2.
At certain POM, a family farm has some great fruits, vegetables, and they also sell honey, their own bitter chocolate, and grass-fed eggs. Their sweet potates are nice, ginger root is hot, and there are always dirty fingernails, toenails, and feet. I know they know what is good that week, because they're direct farming to me.
Eating local is nothing new to my family; growing up my Dad had planted different things and I enjoyed picking and eating them garden-fresh. Eating meals that have been tasty, and thriving without sacrificing anything that I can think of. I got sick, so using some Gilroy garlic, since my pot of garlic seems to have gone dormant after planting them.
I have a stash of good homemade guava jam that goes well with local company Arturo's flour tortillas or on Diamond soda crackers.
